Der große Markterfolg des iPad dürfte nun dafür gesorgt haben, dass Redmont der Mut zur iPad-Alternative verlassen hat, schreibt Gizmodo. Zumal das Microsoft-Gerät erst für Ende des Jahres erwartet wurde und bis dahin eine Reihe von iPad-Konkurrenten – auch mit dem Betriebssystem Windows – auf dem Markt sein dürften.

Golem.de geht noch einen Schritt weiter und berichtet, dass HP die Entwicklung am Slate vorerst auf Eis gelegt hat, da Microsoft Windows 7 eine unvollkommene Touch-Unterstützung hat. Durch die Übernahme von Palm ist aber das Betriebssystem WebOS verfügbar. Es ist also durchaus denkbar, dass man den Deal abwartet und dann mit der Entwicklung und dem Know How von Palm die Entwicklung wieder auf nimmt.
